Technology Development Zones (TDZ) are regions designed to support research and development activities and attract investment in high-tech areas.

This number includes 69 technology development zones, 13 of which are under construction, while 56 technology development areas are currently operating.

Advantages of technology development areas

  • Profits from program development and design, research and development activities are exempt from income and corporate taxes until December 31, 2023.
  • Exemption of sales of applications software produced exclusively in technology development areas from VAT until December 31, 2023 Examples include systems management software, data management, commercial applications, various sectors of the Internet, mobile phones, military command mechanisms and control systems.
  • Exemption of wages of support, design and research and development personnel in this region from all taxes until December 31, 2023, provided that the number of support employees covered by this exemption does not exceed 10% of the total number of research and development personnel.
  • Companies may make the necessary investment to produce technology products based on the outcome of R&D projects implemented in the Technology Development Zone (TDZ) if the operator deems this appropriate and permitted by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology (MoSIT).
  • The government shall pay 50 percent of the employer's share of the social insurance premiums until December 31, 2023.
  • Exemption from tax charges on imported products, and stamp duties on documents in circulation as part of R&D, design and software development projects.
