The Hippodrome (Vellevendi) is a race track located in the Veliefendi district of the Bacherkoy district of the European section of Istanbul.

It is the oldest and largest racetrack in the country, founded on the former pasture of the Şeyhülislam Veliyüddin Efendi, the highest authority in the 18th century of Islam in the Ottoman Empire. The race course was built in 1912 - 1913 by German specialists at the initiative of Anwar Pasha.

The race track covers 59.6 hectares (147 acres) and consists of race, training and barn facilities. The race track consists of three tracks as follows:

At 2.020 m (2.210 yard) for a long time and 27-36 m (89-118 ft) wide oval grass.

At 1.870 m (2.050 yard) for a long period and 17.5 to 19 m (57-62 feet) the artificial track is wide for all weather conditions.

At 1.730 m (1.890 yard) for a long and 16-17m (52-56 ft) wide oval sand for training.

The track is 7.600.

The complex includes offices, a museum, an exhibition hall, a horse-race hospital, a trainee training center as well as social and recreational facilities.
