Gazi Atik Ali Pasha Mosque

Old Ottoman Mosque, located in Chamberlain Tash Çemberlitaş district within the conqueror district of the European section of the city of Istanbul.

The mosque was built in 1496 by order of Ali Pasha al-Khader during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II.

The walls of the mosque are built of cut stones and are 21.55 x 28.13 meters. The roof of the mosque covers 5 domes, the main dome is 13,30 meters in diameter and is supported by half a dome and 4 small domes. The main dome contains 16 windows, and the secondary domes also have windows that support the lighting of the mosque. The mihrab is built in the style of Almqarnas, and the platform is built of white and black marble, the minaret of the mosque with one balcony.

The mosque was severely damaged by the earthquake of Istanbul in 1648, where the dome was completely destroyed and a section of the minaret, as well as the earthquakes in 1716 and 1766 and was after each time it was restored.
