About Us

Çağ University was established as a public entity in 9th of July 1997.

When it was first established, it incorporated Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Vocational School, Preparatory School (in English), Institute of Social Sciences and Institute of Natural and Applied Science. Subsequently, Law Faculty was also established depending on the cabinet decree no 97/10212 on 06.11.1997.

Becoming prominent thanks to its dynamic structure, modern campus, international teaching staff and education quality provided to the students, Çağ University is the first foundation higher education institution established in Akdeniz Region, Çukurova which is regarded as a center of natural beauties, history and culture. After 2005 with the donated lands, the campus area has enlarged to 470.000 square meters.

The number of students and teaching staff have been gradually increased every year since its foundation. While the student population was 422 in 1998-1999 academic year, it has increased to 5000 in 2016-2017 academic year.

When the university first established, the number of the teaching staff was around 25, but in 2016-2017 academic year, the number of the permanent teaching staff is 169 and the number of hourly paid teaching staff is 24, so the number has increased to 193 in total. The number of administrative and security staff has increased to 110.

In line with the increase in the number of students, teaching and administrative staff, the number of the buildings and the classrooms have also increased. Starting its education with a single building, which is still called as Rectorate Building, Çağ University was contributed by the second building which still embodies the  Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Preparatory School building in 1998-1999 academic year and in 2003-2004 academic year, the third building which consists Law and  Faculty of Economics and Administrative sciences.  In 2005 -2006 academic year, Amphiplaza was constructed and the person capacity of Amphitheater was increased to 1000. In 2007-2008 academic year, new computer labs and additional offices were constructed at “Science and Technology Center” which is a modern building with its total area of 4.500m2. Computer labs, Social Sciences Institution and Library were also relocated to the building. Teaching staff working at Vocational School were also relocated to science center in 2013-2014 academic year.

Within this center, Internet Room, Personal and Group Working Rooms and Conference Halls were came into operation. Moreover, institution with the aim of providing and transferring information, research centers, Erasmus and Career Offices and the other units with similar functions were located in the science center. The construction of Space Observation and Research Center, which is on the top floor of “Science and Technology Center”, was completed and it came into service in 2009.

In addition to the constructions for the purpose of renovation every year on the campus, new construction investments are being planned for the following years.

The number of the studies in the academic fields have also increased significantly.

The education language of the Higher Vocational School was changed from English to Turkish due to students’ demands, university’s offer and Council of Higher Education’s approval. Students have the option of studying at Preparatory School on a volunteer basis. While %30 of the courses given at the Law Faculty are English, the courses at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Faculty of Arts and Sciences (except for Turkish Language and Literature) are all in English.

In 2003-2004 academic year, Public Relations department was opened as a part of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and in 2005-2006 academic year, International Trade Department and in the same academic year, Tourism and Hospitality Management and International Logistics programs were opened at Higher Vocational School.

In 2008, Tourism and Hospitality Management department at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Mathematics And Computer Science department at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Computer Technology and Information Systems, Banking Programs at Higher Vocational School and Business Law, International Relations and Globalization, Banking and Finance, International Trade and Marketing programs were opened. In 2009, Accounting and Taxation and Human Resources Management programs were approved by the Council of Higher Education and they started the education life. In the following years, Tourism Management, Turkish Language and Literature and Psychology departments were opened under the related faculties. Under Higher Vocational School, Justice, Applied English and Translation, Health Management programs were approved by the Council of Higher Education. Another approved department by the Council of Higher Education in 2014-2015 academic year is Child Development Program and it started to admit students in 2016-2017 academic year.

Regarding the needs, classrooms are renovated, combined and their capacity has been improved. Students are provided with “Computer Assisted e-library”. The offices of teaching staff and the classrooms have been equipped with additional air conditioners, the number of the “data show” has been increased, to assist the lessons, classrooms have been equipped with cine-vision solutions and smart boards. Moreover, the number of laptops, which are used for teaching purposes, has been increased. By installing new computers in the library, students are allowed to do research and development activities thanks to reaching the Internet easily.

In terms of security and safety, the campus is kept under control by a camera system working 24 hours. The general overview of the campus has been smartened by means of environmental planning within the frame of landscape architecture and the conditions of transportation services, which are provided both to teaching staff and students, have been improved.

In addition to social facilities, some facilities such as Starbucks, Burger King, Amigo, Garden Cafe and food court were started to run by contracted private institutions in 2012-2013 academic year. Amigo, Garden Cafe and food courts were run by Euroset; Forest Cafe and tea houses were run by the university.

In order for students and teaching staff to use, Fitness Center was put into service in 2013-2014 academic year. In addition to rooms belonging student clubs conducting social and cultural activities, additional rooms were built for the sports clubs.
