The foundation studies were started with the expectation that a single university is not enough for the upbringing and provision of qualified manpower needed by the Konya industrial and commercial world. For the industrial and commercial world, it is aimed to educate the graduates who are qualified in the practical and practical applications of the work as well as the theoretical knowledge. The views of the business world, faculty members were taken and the departments required by the market were identified. More than 20,000 members of the Konya Chamber of Commerce have been instrumental in the establishment of a branded university in Konya. Following the feasibility studies and examining the sample university models, KTO Karatay University started to draw its vision.

Within the framework of the determined vision, contemporary education system, innovative structure, practical training intertwined with life, at least bilingual, qualified, recognizing the market and giving graduates who are not worried about finding a job, contribute to social development by producing original, creative and usable information with sector-oriented education programs. KTO Karatay University aims to establish a public legal entity with Article 113 of the Law No. 5913 of the Higher Education Institutions published in the Official Gazette No. 27281 dated 07/07/2009 and numbered 27281. became the first foundation university.
