Abdi Ipekci Street

Abdi Abkhaj Street, Istanbul's main shopping street, is located in the Shishli district of the European section of Istanbul. It extends from Bayıldım Caddesi to Vali Konağı Caddesi and is about 700 meters long.

The name of the street is named after the editor of Milliyet, the famous journalist Abdi Abkaji. Who was killed on February 1, 1979 in his car and in front of his apartment on this street by Mohamed Ali Agha, who later became famous for his failed attempt to assassinate Pope John Paul II and when he was assassinated in 2000. Over the past decade, this street has been considered a prestigious neighborhood that hosts luxury shopping malls with a monthly rental price of around $ 3,500 per square meter and is currently the most expensive retail store in Turkey.
