Theodosius Obelisk

Istanbul is the city of the masterpieces of Turkish tourism and masterpieces of the Egyptian Theodosius obelisk made by the Egyptian pharaoh Tuttmosis III and brought to Istanbul by the Roman Emperor Theodosius I.

The Theodosius obelisk is located at the southern end of Sultanahmet Square, known as the Blue Mosque in the European section of Istanbul.

An ancient Egyptian obelisk, brought from Egypt to Istanbul by the Roman Emperor Theodosius I in 390 AD, and carried on ships and installed in its present place.

The obelisk was first made by the Egyptian pharaoh Tutmosis III in the 15th century BC. The real length of the chain 30 m, but it was damaged and vandalism during transport from Egypt and therefore the current length of 18.45 m.
