Perteniyal Valide Sultan Mosque

One of the most important historical monuments dating back to the Ottoman era, also known as the Mosque of the Sultan Mother or the Mosque of Sultan Mother. Wife of Sultan Mahmoud II and the mother of Sultan Abdul Aziz.

The Sultanat Al-Walda Mosque is located in the middle of four roads at the entrance to Ataturk Square in the Axrai district of Al Fateh Province in the European section of Istanbul.

In 1869, by order of the Sultan Perteniyal Sultan (1812 - 1883), built the mosque Sultan of the mother and completed in 1871. This is one of the last mosques built in Istanbul during the Ottoman period.

The Armenian architects Sarkis and Hakop Balian, who were also responsible for some of the late Ottoman palaces built along the Bosphorus Strait, were designed.

The Sultan of Bertoneal, the tomb of the Sultan of Brittanyal in the mosque is the wife of Sultan Mahmud II (1789 - 1839 AD; he took power between 1808 and 1839 AD) and the mother of Sultan Abdul Aziz (1830 - 1876 AD).

The mosque was built on the ruins of Haji Mustafa Agha Mosque. The complex includes: mosque, avenue, mausoleum and solar mansion, and has been designed as a school more than a mosque. The mosque consists of two sections: the men section (the group) and the campus section (a section covered with a small dome sitting on a polygon with sixteen ribs).

The mosque is the most decorated and engraved mosque in Istanbul. It refers to the architectural style influenced by the Western style in the 16th and 17th centuries where it became possible to see western inscriptions and adornments. The gilded stars and blue-colored ruler-style is a perfect example. The walls of the mosque are covered inside and outside with engraved marble. The outer wall of the mosque's courtyard overlooking the Xerai side represents the height of the building craft that the Ottoman architecture reached.

The mother's mosque, which was established at the end of the 19th century, and during the work of the amendments in the courtyard of Exra and the extension of the streets of the homeland led to the lifting of the tomb of Sultan Bertvenial and solar maze as well as the way in the years between (1956-1959), after a period of time was transferred to the courtyard of the mosque . Due to the construction of roads and streets, the mosque is now under the street level.
