The house of the famous poet Tawfiq Fakret, known as the poet of freedom, he supervised the construction of himself in 1906 and then lived there to the borders of 1915, ie, over a decade of time, located in the district of Bbk on the Bosphorus in the region of Besiktas in the European section of Istanbul.
In 1940, the municipality, at the initiative of its then president Lutfi Kirdar, bought the house from the wife of poet Nathima Khanem, and then turned the house into a cultural museum attracting all lovers of literature, art and poetry. The house was initially named after the Museum of Modern Literature, and then renamed the Museum of Ashian in 1961, after the original owner was moved to his yard.
The first floor contains a number of administrative offices of the museum, while the second floor includes a full hall dedicated to the poet Abdul Haq Hamid, and the other poet Nekar Khan, which contains a valuable collection of documents and books, in addition to A collection of works of the poet and a collection of personal purposes. The third floor contains the room of the poet Tawfiq Fakret, who is full of his personal belongings and his library, as well as the paintings presented to him. The latter is shimmering with paintings from the unique Ottoman heritage, including rare gifts by Sultan Abdul Majid.
