Sadberk Hanim Museum

The Sadberg Hanem Museum in Istanbul is a private museum overlooking the Bosphorus, located in the Büyükdere district of the Sarıyer district of the European section of Istanbul. Established by the Vehbi Koç Foundation, one of the largest non-governmental charitable organizations in Turkey, active in the fields of health care, education and culture. It has established several primary schools throughout Turkey and has also established a university and a number of hospitals.

The museum consists of two separate signs: the first is called Azeryan Yalı, built at the end of the 19th century as a wooden palazzo overlooking the Bosphorus. It was purchased by the Kush family in 1950 and used as a summer resort until they decided to turn the building into a museum in 1978. To commemorate the death of the wife of the founder of this organization, Mrs. Sadberk. This museum was named Sadberk Hanım. Between 1978 and 1980, it was restored and installed on October 14, 1980 and was officially opened to the general public.

The museum initially exhibited a special collection of Ms. Sadberk's things that included traditional costumes, embroidery, silver jewels, artefacts and the like, and today contains more than 3,000 artifacts.

The Sadberg Hanem Museum is 400m2, ground floor is a gift shop and there is also a small tea room. The ceiling is decorated above the main entrance in a style inspired by ancient Roman architecture, while wooden stairs lead to the second and third floors where the exhibits are located.

The second building is called Sevgi Gönül. The ground floor has a grand entrance leading to a multipurpose hall and a small laboratory. The upper floors are displayed chronologically, starting with the 6,000-year-old Anatolian civilization and oriental and Ottoman textiles. That the museum was honored with the European prize "Nostra" as an example of modern architecture and design.
