Beyazid Tower

History of the Beyazid Tower

In 1749, a wooden tower was erected by the first Ottoman architect Gregor Balian, who studied at the Écoleadis Bio-Art Institute in Paris for fire control. It was the first of its kind in the Ottoman era.

In 1756, the tower was exposed to burning. It was rebuilt in 1826 by the director of the Palace of the High Gate (Hussien Agha Sami), the "fire tower". His employees were called "Kushklo or Kushlu or Didh Ban", but burned again The hands of the renegade rebels. It was rebuilt for the third time under the reign of Sultan Mahmud II in 1828 and was carried out by architect Sankrim Balian, the brother of architect Gregor Balian, where the fire was monitored before the construction of the Beyazid tower from the mosque of Sulaymaniyah. The height of the tower is 85 meters and is up by 256 degrees.
