The right to freedom of employment is one of the rights protected by international conventions signed by Turkey. All foreigners in Turkey are subject to certain restrictions, the most important of which is that a foreigner wishing to work in Turkey obtains a work permit from the Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
If the person is outside Turkey
A foreigner residing outside Turkey can obtain a work permit in two steps:
- Obtaining a contract of employment or partnership in a company in Turkey. And submitted to the Turkish embassy or consulate in his country with a request for a work permit in Turkey.
- The employer or partner in Turkey submits a work contract or partnership document to a person who is outside Turkey, with a request for a work permit for the partner to the Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The application may be sent with the required documents by mail within 10 days from the date of application With the contract of employment or partnership to the embassy or consulate by the person outside Turkey. The request is usually answered by approval or approval after a period of no more than 30 days upon the response of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Turkey, because it is the body responsible for issuing a work permit in Turkey.
If the person is inside Turkey
Foreigners living in Turkey who have 6 months residence in Turkey may apply for a work permit in Turkey to the Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security provided that their stay is valid for 6 months. Foreigners with tourist visas for one year may apply for a work permit to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Turkey.
The employer or partner can apply for a work permit for his employees or partner to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Turkey, and a work contract or partnership with the application is attached.
